Sage is a small, independent studio designing beautiful spreadsheet templates for weddings, small businesses, and life's biggest plans.

Why we started

We're an engineer couple. For years, we've been chasing financial freedom the way most people quietly do — by trying everything.

Amazon FBA. Wholesale arbitrage. Amazon KDP. Print-on-demand on Etsy. Digital AI Arbitrage. We've tested a lot of side hustles, made a lot of mistakes, and learned — painfully — that running a small business is mostly a bookkeeping problem in disguise.

We did our own books. We tracked our own cash flow. We planned our own life events. And we kept building spreadsheets — because the free ones were ugly and the paid ones were over-engineered.

Somewhere along the way, the templates became the product.

Sage is what happened when two engineers, tired of the chaos of side hustles, decided to share the calm we'd built for ourselves.

How we make things

Every Sage template is built around three rules:

It has to feel calm.
We're engineers, so we know spending hours in a spreadsheet is normal — but it shouldn't feel like work. Soft palettes, color-coded inputs, generous spacing. Your eyes shouldn't have to fight the file.

It has to actually work.
Every formula is validated by hand. Every file is tested on Microsoft 365 (Windows), Excel for Mac, and Google Sheets. No XLOOKUP, no LET, no 365-only tricks — so the same template runs everywhere. Demo data ships with every file so the dashboards come alive the moment you open it.

It has to be yours forever.
One payment. No subscriptions. Free updates for the life of the file. We've paid enough monthly fees across our own businesses to know how heavy they get.

What we believe

— Tools that look good get used. A wedding budget you actually open is worth more than a vault of unread PDFs. Same goes for cash flow.

— Beginners deserve real tools. The first spreadsheets we built were intimidating. The ones we sell can't be. Every Sage file opens on a Welcome tab. Every tab has a "How to use this" box. The only skill required is typing.

— Small businesses already pay too much for software. Etsy fees, Shopify fees, QuickBooks subscriptions — the last thing you need is another monthly bill to do something a spreadsheet can do. We sell once, then leave you alone.

— The best products come from the people who needed them first. We didn't build Sage for a market. We built it for our own businesses, our own wedding, our own scattered to-do lists. Then we kept going.

About the studio

Sage is run by two engineers — a married couple — who chose to stay off-camera. Not because we're hiding, but because we'd rather you spend your time looking at the templates than at us.

A few things we will tell you:

— We do our own accounting. The bookkeeping templates you'd buy from us are the same files we use to manage our own businesses.

— We answer every customer email ourselves. No support queue. No chatbot. No virtual assistant. Just the two of us, replying when we open our laptops.

— We've shipped templates to hundreds of customers — and we're still answering every message personally.
